According to reports, a design flaw with Facebook’s Messenger Kids app allowed children to chat with strangers that were not approved by their parents. The bug with the group chat system let children join conversations with strangers that while approved by their friends’ parents, weren’t necessarily approved by their own. Facebook has said the issue affected a small number of group chats and that it has since then turned them off and provided parents with additional resources on Messenger Kids and online safety in general.
