Western nations rushed to evacuate their citizens and local staff from Kabul on Monday (August 16, 2021) after the Taliban’s lightning fast takeover of Afghanistan. Russia meanwhile said it did not plan to evacuate its embassy in Kabul. China’s embassy in Kabul remains operational, Beijing said.
